Reading in Psalm 119 and these thoughts for applications came to mind: In particular Psalm 119:129-136.
Eight Things to Pray for New Disciples
-
That they would know the wonder of the word of God and delight in obedience.
(vs. 129)…………“Your testimonies are wonderful;
Therefore my soul observes them.” -
That they would move from simple truths to the unfolding light of God”s word.
(vs. 130)…………“The unfolding of Your words gives light;
It gives understanding to the simple.” -
That they would pant for more of God’s will every day.
(vs. 131)…………“I opened my mouth wide and panted,
For I longed for Your commandments.” -
That God would be gracious to them as they stand for His name with other believers.
(vs. 132)…………“Turn to me and be gracious to me,
After Your manner with those who love Your name.” -
That God would keep them steady in the truth and free from enslavement to sin.
(vs. 133)
“Establish my footsteps in Your word,
And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.” -
That others plans against them would not keep them from obedience to God’s word.
(vs. 134)……….. .“Redeem me from the oppression of man,
That I may keep Your precepts.” -
That God would be their teacher and make them shine with new light for the world.
(vs. 135)
“Make Your face shine upon Your servant,
And teach me Your statutes.” -
That their passion for the lost would be infused with compassion.
(vs. 136)………… “My eyes shed streams of water,
Because they do not keep Your law.”
I particularly took to mind your prayer thought on vs. 34
