Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to preach at my home church. The pastor was away for a family wedding and asked me to kick off a new series on the parables of Christ in the Gospel of Luke 8:1-15. It was a privilege, and it was a good study for me as well. I titled the message “Four Soils to Diagnose Your Soul.”
One of the things I strove to get across was that the parable of the four soils should never be used to evaluate other people’s lives. Jesus specifically called his audience to hear the parable for their own soul, (cf. vs. 8). Jesus was talking about how to hear the word of God. It’s late, and I don’t want to give the whole message away here, but if you want to hear the message, this is the link.
