According to the superscriptions in your Bible, there are nine Psalms that the “sons of Korah” wrote to the “choirmaster”. It sounds like they were a family or tribe of songwriters and worship leaders with a passion for others to learn how to worship the King and God they knew.

–Psalm 42  To the choirmaster. A Maskil of the Sons of Korah.

–Psalm 84  To the choirmaster: According to The Gittith. Psalm of the Sons of Korah.
–Psalm 85  To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.

Nine psalms that the “Sons of Korah” wrote for the worshiping community. Nine psalms that they handed to the choirmaster to teach the Sons and Daughters of Israel the wisdom of worshiping the King of glory in all the situations of life. Nine psalms that explore the depths and the heights of doubt, confidence, anxiety and wonder. The Sons of Korah know something and they want us to eavesdrop on their meditation on the greatness of God.

The Sons of Korah Know

The sons of Korah know.
They know what to do.
They have no doubt.
And they want everyone at the party,
….  to shout and make some noise.
They want a celebration,
….  a loud dance party,
….  a rollicking joy that fills the neighbors with envy and smiles.

Because they KNOW!
—-  The Lord, the Most High, is to be exalted.
—-  He is a great King reigning over all the earth.

So let the singing begin.
Let the trumpet resound.
Let the tamborines shake.
Let the dancers climb the sky.

Let the heralds shout.
For He sits on His throne, and His throne is holy.
Clap your hands, all you peoples;
Shout unto God with a voice of praise.
Know that He is yours and you are His.
Forever.
