Here is a thoughtful article on small churches from Christianity Today. If you are a small church pastor or a small church member this article might give you much to praise God for and a few things to aspire to.
When I taught in the seminary I often told my students that mega churches were abnormal in the history of the church and it is, therefore, unwise to draw our models of how to “do church” from them. Praise God for them. Rejoice in what God might be doing in them but most pastors have gifts that flourish in smaller environments and the people they shepherd benefit as those gifts (of the pastor) are used to help them (the congregation) develop their gifts and use them in serving the body.
