“Jesus Christ lived in the midst of his enemies. At the end all his disciples deserted him. On the cross he was utterly alone, surrounded by evildoers and mockers. For this cause he had come, to bring peace to the enemies of God. So the Christian, too, belongs not in the seclusion of a cloistered life but in the thick of foes.”
A Christian cannot avoid persecution and remain faithful to Christ. Bonhoeffer led the way. He was faithful, and on April 8, 1945, Christ gave him the crown of life and the second death never touched him.
10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. 11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.’ [ Revelation 2:10–11 (ESV) ]
Will the American Church stand when persecution comes its way?
