Friday is for Heart Songs
It is 2:12 AM. I was asleep 8 minutes ago but I am wide awake now. The train just came through Watskea and the windows were open. I’m smiling and sitting at the keyboard. The train whistle has alerted my ears that the train is coming. But the Spirit of God has other things in mind for my heart.
51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. (1 Corinthians 15: 51-52)
30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (Matthew 24:31)
15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15)
One day, the whole earth will hear the trumpets of heaven announce that the King is coming. Lightening will flash. The sign of Christ will appear in the sky. The call will go out. And we who are his blood-bought purchase will join him in the air. And the Bride of Christ, the Church, says with the Spirit of God . . .
17 The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. (Revelation 22:17)
He is coming. He is coming! He is coming! The news of his coming is a sure word.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20)
It is 2:49 AM. I hear a new train whistle in the night. Another train is coming through town. I’m smiling. One day it will be a trumpet.
