Living Missionally in Suburbia

Suburbia 2This is a good follow-up to my post from earlier today with some great practical examples about how to engage with neighbors.

Fantastic article by Phil Henry passed on to me by Michael Wallenmeyer. Phil is the pastor of Mercy Hill in South Jersey. Michael is the pastor of Mt. Laurel Evangelical Free Church in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Years ago, (High School and College) I had a job in Mt. Laurel.

This is a perfect example of living missionally and living an intensely local lifestyle that I have blogged about often in these pages. Thanks Mike for posting this on your blog and Phil for living it out.

Here’s the Link. Please don’t miss this link. It will take you 3 minutes to read.

Michael and Phil, I am going to visit your churches sometimes this summer when I visit family in Philly. Great job guys.

Update:  Never got to visit but I haven’t given up on trying. Maybe the next time I am in Philly.

  1. A beautiful example of the personal mission field principle in action. Each of us needs to sit down with a piece of paper and list the people that we contact each day from family to neighbors to co-workers to church to stores and shops. Then lay out an approach prayerfully to ministering to each group and then to individuals within the group. How am I going to spread the Good News to certain individuals and how am I going to encourage others in their walk before the Lord? How am I going to be an Ambassador of Reconciliation in each instance?

It is implementation of our Matthew 28:19-20 calling.
