Telling It Like It Is: Spiritual Warfare

Friday is for Heart Songs

God calls us to more than just nursing the wounded and helping those defeated by life and choices and tragedy. We have a holy calling to proclaim the ministry of reconciliation. People need the gospel that you and your people have believed. Don’t doubt that. Live in light of that.

Pluralism and relativism and fear of man will suck the life out of your evangelistic fervor. Sin will undercut your power and close your lips to offering the life-changing message of hope to be found only in the gospel of Jesus. Fight the good fight. Keep preaching the word, “in season and out of season” (i.e. when you feel like and when you don’t). There is a battle to be won. There are people who need you. Get out of the hospital (the church) and proclaim the word of life.

“Many say this is the real battle. Divorce, death, disagreement. But I don’t believe it. Oh yes, it’s real. And yes, it’s a battle. But it’s not the main battle. Is the field hospital the main reason for having troops on the field? What’s the main reason sergeants are in the trenches? To settle soldiers’ disputes? Do chaplains come along just to bury the dead? Or is there a war to be won?”
