What is Driving the SIMPLE CHURCH “Revolution”?

Today’s discussion is in the form of a Poll.  Please add your comments after voting.

Here’s an old poll that needs to be updated with new thoughts and inputs.  You can give yours in the comments section.

  1. People my age and younger (at least in my observation) tend to thrive more on community and discussion of biblical concepts vs. the traditional church settings. Some of us want more of a sense of community and connective belonging that cannot be found in the confines of most Sunday services. That is not to say that pastor like you isn’t doing a good job. (On the contrary, I think you guys are doing a great job!) However, I think people want more closeness and community in a church than is currently provided in most churches and than most pastors in traditional churches can provide.

  2. I’ve got to figure out how to move these polls to the sidebar so they don’t get buried in the blog.

Yes, I think you are right about twenty-somethings in general. But I also think that this longing for greater community is being fueled by the Spirit of God who is getting the Church ready for something significant on the horizon.

That significant thing, might be persecution, or it might be a third Great Awakening, but whatever it is, it seems to be a worldwide movement. A great new book for all of us is Tim Chester and Steve Timmis’ Total Church: A Radical Reshaping around the Gospel and Community (Crossway Books, 2008).
