This morning I woke early and retreated to the living room to have my devotions. Readings in the Psalms and the Gospel of Mark and then in a devotional that my wife gave me some years ago that I return to often. There, as morning began to rise, I find these words as a part of the March 6 offering . . .
“Every temptation is a chance for victory,
a signal to fly the flag of the Victor,
a chance to make the tempter know anew that he is defeated.”
—Corrie ten Boom
Let us meet every temptation to sin with this hope.
“This is an opportunity to proclaim the glories of my King!”
So, let us turn our gaze to the cross upon which our Savior died and remember that it was there He paid the price our sin deserved. Let us look at every temptation as an opportunity to declare the superior worth of His love and the glorious power it holds over us. Let us live lives that are a praise to His glorious grace (Ephesians 1:6, 12, 14). And let us remember that He is coming again to judge the living and the dead (2 Timothy 4:1-2).
