Next to the Last Song, Side B
NO COMPROMISE LP, by Keith Green

The next to the last song on the album is the only song not written by Keith or Melody Green. It is actually a cover of a song by Jamie Owens-Collins from the Jesus Movement era. But in Keith’s hands and heart, it captures a joy in the resurrection that few have equaled. Keith loved Jesus. He was an evangelist, yes. He was a musician, yes. He was passionate, yes. But most of all, Keith was a young man who had fallen in love with Jesus. He was a Jesus-lover and everything he did flowed from the intensity of his love for his Savior. The Victor, and the way Keith sung it, captures that love. 

The liner notes include one or two Scriptures that Keith wanted to introduce to the listeners heart. The verses serve as a kind of microscope to examine what was at the center of each song. For The Victor Keith included two verses;

“And God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death,
since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.”         (Acts 2:24)

“And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written,
‘KING OF KINGS, LORD OF LORDS.'”               (Revelation 19:16)
