Cleansing Requires Clean Hands

Sanctifying the Day — Serving Our Community

Only God has clean hands.
Only He can cleanse us.
And He delights to do so when we call out to Him.

Rock Hill 4

A Call to Worship — .

Only God has clean hands. Only He can cleanse us.
And He delights to do so when we call out to Him.
“We give thanks to You, O God;
we give thanks, for Your name is near.
And so we recount Your wondrous deeds.
You saved Israel out of Egypt.
You saved David in the wilderness.
You saved Jeremiah from the well.
And You saved all of us through the blood of Christ.
So now Lord, we give You
the day that You have given us.
Let us fill it with praise for You,
that the world will know that You are worthy.
and that we have been highly valued by You.”

cf. Psalm 75:1

A Mid-Day Prayer for Revival

“Lord, Your word says that if we confess our sins,
You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins.
And as if that forgiveness was not enough,
You say that You will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
O God, we are depending on that promise.
We are desperate for your forgiveness and
we will only foul up again, and again.
O how we praise You for Your continuing forgiveness,
but Lord we need Your cleansing,
we need You to wash us so thoroughly
that our lives glisten in a decaying world
that needs You.
Cleanse us O God.
Cleanse us.
There is nowhere else we can go.
Cleanse us.
According to You steadfast love
have mercy on us.
According to Your abundant mercy,
blot out my transgressions.”

cf. Psalm 51:1-2; 1 John 1:9

A Benediction to Sanctify the Night

4 We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.
He established a testimony in Jacob
and appointed a law in Israel,
  which he commanded our fathers
    to teach to their children,
that the next generation might know them,
    the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
    but keep his commandments;
“Lord, as we sleep tonight,
prepare the opportunities for us to teach the next generation.
May we be faithful to proclaim Your faithfulness to our children.
May we be faithful to proclaim Your faithfulness to our neighbors.

And Lord, help us to proclaim Your faithfulness to our own souls,
that we might rise in the morning to make You known.”

Cf. Psalm 78:4-7
