The Voice
There is a TV show, “The Voice”
Whose plot line is to find “the voice”
—-the voice that everyone recognizes as The One.
—-the voice that is cut from a different cloth.
—-the voice that stands out against all others.
—-the voice whose power to transcend and inspire and
mesmerize
wraps hearts up in velvet and squeezes them like a vice
until tears flow from eyes
like tears from the center of a soul. And the end of the process yields to worship.
The winner of “The Voice” is showered with
adoration,
applause,
an undulating crescendo of praise and joy
rains down on a spot-lighted man or woman
in the center of a stage surrounded by throngs
of worshipers. But there is a voice that is powerful
and majestic,
and glorious,
and it thunders,
and can break cedars into pieces,
and make valleys and the hillsides surrounding them roll like waves,
and shake wildernesses
that make pregnant animals go into labor,
and strip forests bare.
There is a voice,
a voice whose power to transcend and inspire and
mesmerize
can wrap hearts up in velvet and squeezes them like a vice
until tears flow from eyes
like tears from the center of a soul. And that voice
that uniquely wonderful voice
gives strength and peace
to the ones who are His.
