Fighting Sin with a Great Joy

Desiring God

“This is the great business of life–to ‘put our mouths out of taste for those pleasures with which the tempter baits his hooks.’ I know of no other way to triumph over sin long-term than to gain a distaste for it because of a superior satisfaction in God.”

John Piper, Desiring God, p. 12.

I look forward to the weeks and years ahead leading the people of God, to “dig for gold” in the pages of Scripture, “rather than rake for leaves” on the surface of the text.

May God lead us to a greater passion for Him than ever before; may He satisfy us with Himself and show Himself through our joy in Him.
