We’ve Got Discipleship All Wrong

I am about to leave Kansas City after a three day conference on church planting hosted at Mid-America Nazarene Universtiy by Dynamic Church Planting International. Last night I had a long conversation with a great young catalytic leader and church planter by the name of Brandon Marten. Pray for him; he is making a real difference for Jesus.

Anyway, our conversation got into the area of discipleship and asked the question why the Church doesn’t seem to be making disciples. I quoted from this post from 2010. Pray for Brandon. Pray for the Church in America to begin to truly make disciples and change our world for Christ. Join the conversation and give your perspective.

“Jesus didn’t say he would make us cooks. (Nothing against cooks!)  He said he would make us fishers of men.  To follow him means that we fish for men.  A discipleship process that by-passes the start of the process misunderstands the whole process.”
