Thursday Musings
I am reading Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus by Ann Spangler and Lois Tverberg. This morning I ran across this simple but provocative thought:
“What if we could find a way to fine-tune our hearing, so that we could develop first-century Jewish ears? … Is it possible to retune our hearing and thinking so that we can understand Jesus better?” (p. 13)
I am so thankful for teachers who have done this for me over the years. Maybe you are too.
Today, on Thanksgiving, take some time to thank God for the gifted men and women who have had the opportunity and responsibility of opening up the word of life for you since you were a child in the faith. There is joy in remembering God’s faithfulness to give us teachers who have sat at His feet and help us to sit again and again at the feet of Rabbi Jesus.
And to all my “teachers”, Bob and Mike, and Ken, and Pam, and Kathy, and Milly, and Karl, and all my professors believing and unbelieving, and mom and dad, my brothers and sisters, and my children, and friends, and enemies and all those who have been used by God to teach me and help me over the years, thank you.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
