Evangelistic Simplicity

Today is for Discipleship

It is hard to imagine a more straightforward and simple attempt to tell others about the Savior. Jesus calls Philip. Philip follows. First opportunity he gets, Philip runs to tell Nathanael that he has found the Savior. He feels compelled to tell Nathaniel about having found the one who is the fulfillment of all that the prophets foretold.

Why do we make it more complicated that?

John 1:43-46 (ESV)
The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him,

“Follow me.”

Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him,

“We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

Nathanael said to him,

“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”

Philip said to him,

“Come and see.”

There is joy in simply telling others about Jesus and the world needs to see our joy. It is a key ingredient to our witness to the risen Christ.

Question: How are you building joy into your evangelistic training?
