Wednesday is for Prayer
Praise the LORD!
I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart
in the company of the upright,
in the congregation. ( Psalm 111:1 ESV)
What might happen to our corporate worship experience if we gave ourselves the evening before our assembling with the saints to meditating and praying through verses like this one?
Lord, I give thanks to you for the greatness of the company of the redeemed. You have given me a large, worldwide family of brothers and sisters each of whom is a trophy of your grace. Thank you for the collection of saints that I will worship with this Sunday. Make me a blessing to them so that their worship of you is undistracted and our combined worship is a pleasing aroma to you. In the name of our risen Savior, Amen.
See T.M. Moore’s comments on the Lord’s Day and our observance of it at http://www.ailbe.org/columns/revision/item/2736-above-all. Both he and Marty are correct in urging the people of God to return to a practice of observing the Lord’s Day above all.
