Wednesday is for Prayer
And David said,
“Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Yours, is the greatness and the power and the the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all.” —1 Chron. 29:10b-11
There is no vision, no beauty in science, no sculpture or painting by man, no structure or engineering feat, no vista or person on earth, no angel or saint in heaven, that can compare to the greatness and beauty of our God. To him belongs all the greatness, and power, and glory, and victory, and majesty.
And the greatness of our God is on clearest display not in the great vistas we see in the created order, vast and overwhelming and glorious as they are, but in the person and work of Christ on a cross.
For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Colossians 1:19-20 (ESV)
“Lord, purify my vision so that I would know in the deepest recesses of my soul that You are the greatest joy and the only person who can satisfy my heart. For Your glory, I ask it. Amen.”
