A Very Personal Prayer

Wednesday is for Prayer

This week and next, I am taking two doctoral classes, the completion of which will put me at 80% of the classwork done since starting the process after I resigned from New Song to invest my remaining years training the next generation of church planters.

The two classes I am taking right now are important for my ministry as adjunct professor in Church Planting at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS). The class titles are:

  • Worldview and Evangelism (Dr. Howard Netland)
  • The Destiny of the Unevangelized (Dr. Bruce Ware)
I still have quite a bit of reading and of course the papers to write for each of the classes. Also, I continue to preach on Sunday’s and mentor church planters one-on-one and via the internet. We are moving forward with planting a cluster of missional communities (house churches) throughout the Chicagoland area and mentoring the men who will be giving them leadership.
So here’s my prayer requests this week:
  1. Stamina and sleep–I need the latter for the former.
  2. Clarity and discernment–thinking well is hard work, pray that I would listen intently to the Spirit of God.
  3. Diligence and faithfulness–that I would live and study for an audience of ONE. Pray that God would be glorified in my effort.
Would you pray for me this week? Would you stop right now and pray for these three items right now? With deep appreciation, thanks.
And would you consider going to the Partnering tab at the top of the BLOG and consider the PRAYER WORKS category. We are looking for prayer warriors.

  2. Praying for you Marty. I look forward to addressing you as Dr. Marty.
Praying for God to strengthen you when you are weary in soul or spirit, that you would hear His voice clearly and the His glory will be your continual passion. In the name of the One who brings us all we need every day. Amen.
