One of the most cherished books in my library is The Journal of Jim Elliot. I have read it twice and will soon read it again. Every age has its heroes. Some of them are worthy. Some are just popular for a moment, brilliant flames that draw our attention and then disappear. But men like Jim Elliot and the men who died with him in the jungles of Ecuador are heroes whose flames get appropriately brighter with time. May God raise up many more like him from our churches. This quote was resurrected from Elliot’s journal by Brother Miguel Labrador on the mission field:
American missionary and martyr Jim Elliot reflected in his journal:
Our oldest son is going for his first taste of foreign missions. He has in his stack of books to read, a biography of Jim Elliot. He will appreciate this quote. Thank you.
