Church Planter: Take Care of Your Wife

Here’s an article that a former pastor’s wife passed on to me and said it might be helpful to the men I train. Treat your wife like a bride every day.

True Confessions of a Pastor’s Wife

Practical Counsel: We always required every new pastor hired to, as a first priority, gather a team of 25 people who will covenant to pray for his walk with God and marriage/family. If you hire the right person and those two things are growing in intimacy and love, the tasks of ministry will take care of themselves.

  1. And your children!

1 Timothy 5:8 “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

I wonder if this applies to the parenting and spiritual nurturing that a father is expected to provide to his children. We see all too many PKs in the prison, generally men who admit that they did not have a good relationship with their fathers.

We are not to be so involved with the “Lord’s Work” that we forget our responsibility to the family He has given us.
