Prayer Essentials for a Ministry of Length and Depth

Wednesday is for Prayer

When was the last time you got away for an extended time of prayer? A time to listen to the voice of God in his word? A time to reflect on the greatness of the gospel and the ministry of reconciliation to which you have been entrusted?

When was the last time that you were quiet long enough to hear what God was whispering? When was the last time you allowed yourself to be broken by the greatness of the greatness of God?

If you can’t remember, maybe you need to set some time aside to do that. Maybe you need to recognize that you are not essential but God is. Maybe you need to clear your calendar, carve out a notch in time and get away for a full day of prayer and seeking the face of God. Maybe a day isn’t enough. Maybe you need two days. Maybe you need more. But this much is sure.

No time spent in seeking the face of God will be wasted. Carve it out brother. Carve it out sister. Find a way. It will never be easy. It will always be profitable.

Commit to it.
Schedule it.
Do it.

Find a way and do it.

  1. So true! I recently was able to have a few hours to myself and the Lord was so very precious to me. As a mother of seven, six of whom still live at home, four of whom are still homeschooled, blocks of time are difficult to come by. But for me to mother all of them, I MUST be in Him. Thank you for this charge!
