Training Church Planters from the Northeast and Canada

Weekend Musings

Sunday I leave for Schenectady, NY to train church planters at a conference with Dynamic Church Planting International (DCPI). Usually, I teach the track associated with Churches Planting Churches but this time I will be teaching the Church Planting Essentials track. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with church planters and those just getting their feet wet in the church planting arena.

If all goes well driving tomorrow, I’ll even get to watch the Eagles vs Bears on TV. Bonus!

On this trip I will also get to meet a man and his wife who, through the BLOG and Radical Church Planting website, has quietly become a friend I deeply respect for his wisdom and godly counsel.

So, as you are worshiping Sunday, or resting, or watching football, or reaching out to your neighbor in some way, remember to pray for me:

  • for safety as I drive about a thousand miles round trip.
  • for the conferees, that they arrive safely and on time.
  • for impact as I and the rest of the training team teach.
  • for good sleep patterns over the four days of the conference.
  • for life changing ministry patterns in the 100+ conferees attending the training.

“Missions is not ultimate. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn’t. Missions is a temporary necessity.” —John Piper

Worship abides forever. But that’s why we do missions—so that more will worship the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. Worship the King today.

Update: Training in NY went exceedingly well. debut of a new Growing New Churches track (Beta version) drew good reviews. Pastors and missionaries were trained for Canada, the USA and Bolivia. Met some incredible servants of God.
