Weekend Musings in the Word
“He came to his own,
and his own people did not receive him.”
John 1:11 (ESV)
Surely this is one of the most tragic verses in the gospels. For centuries God had trained Israel, given his word to Israel, gave prophecy to Israel about his plans for a Savior. Now, the “fullness of time has arrived” (Galatians 4:4), the Son is sent to Israel and Israel does not receive him.
“Lord make our hearts always ready to receive you.”
Psalm 4:7
You have put more joy in my heart
Then they have when their grain and wine abound.
“O Lord, make this to be the daily, moment by moment testimony of my heart. Prove to the world that you are most glorified in me when I am most satisfied in you. Amen.”
