The following come from Will Mancini’s book Church Unique: How Missional Leaders Cast Vision, Capture Culture and Create Movement.
“The reality is that most people don’t think; they only rearrange their prejudices.” p. 10
Speaking of how competency in the past limits creative discovery for the future:
“It is not uncommon that the most accomplished people in the room are the least receptive to new learning.” p. 11
Great illustration on page 13 of how cable TV has changed culture in the last two decades and helped to divided the country into smaller competing tribes.
“Knowledge doubles every year, more than one million Websites are created each day, and some 65 percent of preschoolers today will work in jobs that don’t yet exist. The bottom line is that people do not need more information; they need more meaning from the right information.” p. 21

Thanks for the insights. One thought that comes to mind after reading this is how important it is to not only be open to new learning but to make sure we are able to discern what is new RIGHT learning or information.
We live in a culture of ultimate spin masters who can make the worst of sins sound so right, so positive, so correct and even so spiritual. It even seems at times that our culture is the wide road to destruction that leads us into “Life Dominating Sins” while saying “How RIGHT it is!” Lord, send down your Spirit again like a new Pentecost and renew the face of earth to create a new wildfire of evangelism and discipleship.
