Adventuring with Jesus

You get asked some really interesting questions in a lifetime of ministry. Here’s one that a friend asked.

“Marty, what is the most important thing you have written?”

I’m not sure if I have written anything that is “important.” I’m a writer because it helps me think, not because I “commit acts of literature” when I take up the pen. But of the twelve books I have written, some of them little more than extended essays, there are three that I hope find an audience more than others.  [All of these link up to Amazon.com in all editions]

First:  Settlers or Sojourners?
Second: Close Reading
Third: The Ultimate Book of Names: The Names of God in Every Book of the Bible

Settlers and Sojourners? is a meditation on what it means to be a Christian in the modern world. Close Reading is a guide on how to read your Bible in ways that will ensure spiritual growth, and The Ultimate Book of Names is an exploration of God’s character through the names he uses to describe Himself.

All of these books, in one way or another, are attempts to help believers to desire God with all their heart and live passionately for and like Christ. And that is the best answer I can give to my friend’s question.
