Woke up this morning and opened my Bible to Psalm 12 for this 12th day of November. The last verse caught my attention this time through. Maybe it was because my wife and I watched a movie from 1944 and a contemporary TV show last night. the contrast between the two was dramatic. In one, a women of mesmerizing beauty (Heddy Lamar) attracts the eye of ka number of men in her orbit but all but one is content to admire her beauty from afar and remain faithful to their wives. In the modern show (it doesn’t matter which one, they are all the same), nearly everyone in the cast accepts without question all manner of sexual perversions as normal.
Hollywood culture is selling and Americans are buying. And that’s where the last verse of Psalm 12 comes in.
Psalm 12:8 (NASB)
“The wicked strut about on every side
When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.”
Yep!
As long as the nation is willing to consume what Hollywood and its ilk are selling, “the wicked will strut about on every side.”
Remedy:
Clean up your appetites America. Stop consuming what Hollywood is currently offering. Find entertainments that are not an embarrassment to your calling to holiness and the kingdom of God.
