Take a “Prayer Stop” During Your Day

Three prayers, for three “stops” in your day, to give your soul a door into the throne room of God. Start your day, interrupt your day and end your day by giving attention to prayer. May these prayer “stops” jump start your own prayers and saturate your day with thoughts of Christ.

November Prayers (11)
Calling the Heart to Worship

Psalm 71

November rains cannot dampen the joy of my heart
as my eyes open on a new day.
You are my God, Savior and Redeemer,
my Rock of Refuge, My Fortress,
You are the Holy One of Israel
and the glory and sustainer of the Church.

Your praise is on my lips,
and will saturate my day.
Keep me as your possession.
And I will give You all of my praise
this day.

Psalm 71:1-3, 22

Read Psalm 11 and 41

Calling the Heart to Repentance

Read Psalm 41

Lord, like David in Psalm 41
I need You and Your graciousness to heal me.
I need You because of my sin.
Only Your forgiveness is enough.

So Lord, hear my prayer.
I repent and return to You.
Bind my heart to You.
I don’t want to wander from Your commandments.

Amen.

cf. Psalm 41:2-3; and 51:1-3

Read Psalm 101 and 131

Calling the Heart to Rest (a benediction on the day)

Lord, the day has humbled me.
I didn’t get done all the things I wanted.
Everything did not go the way I planned.
Over and over again, I was reminded how weak I really am.

Even so, I have calmed and quieted my soul,
……like a weaned child with its mother;
……like a weaned child is my soul
because all my hope is in You.
I will rest in You
as You take care of the world.

cf. Psalm 131:2
