Nine Biblical Reasons Why President Biden is a Poor Candidate for President

I don’t want to write this post. Just like I didn’t want to write last Friday’s post on why President Trump is a Poor Candidate for President (Link here). (By the way, that post drew considerable pushback from a few of my brothers and sisters in Christ. One thought I was unfair to Trump and viewed him as a kind of political savior of the country for this moment in time. Two were more measured saying neither candidates were good options but that Trump was the best of two evil choices. One more was measured, respectful and very thoughtful, hated the choice but felt that the only choice for her was the choice that would likely save the most unborn children.

Despite the fact that I wrote a book with the title Picking a President or Any Other Elected Official, I’m not a really political person.

As I said in the previous post, I’m a registered Independent. Have been all my life. I wish all Christians were registered Independents. I don’t think it is wise for Christians to be identified with either or any particular political party. Our ultimate allegiance should be to Jesus Christ, His will, His word, His ways. Always. We are monarchists and He is our King. Voting in America is a privilege, and for the Christian, it is more of a privilege than a right. Rights are human, legal things but for us our first and only real, right, is to do what Jesus our King tells us to do. We must follow Him and trust His ways, even when, like His death, it looks foolish.

But this year’s slate of candidates seems so crazy, so poor, so ill-considered, in both the major political parties that I feel compelled to write about it. So, despite the fact that I will upset some of my friends, here are 10 biblical reasons for why President Biden is a Poor Presidential Candidate. (Previous month: ten related to the unsuitability of former President Donald Trump as a Presidential Candidate.)

  1. Joe Biden Feeds Anger to Angry People. The President has a quick temper and a growing anger characterizes his public persona as he has aged. But the Scripture declares that “The anger of men does not accomplish the righteousness of God.” (James 1:20)

  2. Joe Biden is Not a Protector of the Most Vulnerable in Our Culture. He will not protect the unborn. He is not protecting the nation vulnerable communities on our Southern border.  “Rescue those who are being taken away to death, hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Behold, we did not know this,’ does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not repay man according to his work? Whoever says to the wicked, ‘You are in the right,’ will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations.” (Proverbs 24:11-12, 24)

  3. President Biden is an Admitted Liar. From plagiarism in Law school to weekly fact-checked fibs, to lying about his rank in college and law school, the President is not fond of truth. Liars, as I also said about President Trump, have more in common with the devil than they do with Christ. “You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)

  4. President Biden is a Bully.  Unfortunately, this could be said of our last three Presidents. President Obama, Trump and Biden all have “bully” tendencies. President Obama is the most winsome, President Trump the most crude, and President Biden the most bumbling, but they all have a basic, “my way or the highway” approach. This is not a good pattern for the country’s leadership. “A fool always loses his temper, But a wise man holds it back.” (Proverbs 29:11). “Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”  (Proverbs 29:20)

  5. President Biden Closest Counselors Seem to be Marxists and Enemies of the Constitution. Being an enemy of the constitution is not necessarily anti-biblical but since they are sworn to uphold the thing they are working against, all their “service” is a lie. Having wicked counselors around a political leader is something the Scriptures warn us about (cf. 1 Kings 12).

  6. President Biden Shows No Inclination to Hate What God Hates. This is true of President Trump as well. See Proverbs 6:16-19 for seven things that God hates. Go through the list and compare them to President Biden’s stated policies. (Cf. also the sixth chapter in my book referred to above.)

  7. President Biden, measured by his policies, does not seek the wisdom of God.  Specifically, his policies on LGBTQ, same-sex marriage, and abortion lack biblical warrant. One of the most sobering passages to read against the backdrop of what is happening in the nation is in the first chapter of Proverbs.
    ….
    24 “Because I called and you refused,
    mmmI stretched out my hand and no one paid attention;
    25 And you neglected all my counsel
    mmmAnd did not want my reproof;
    26 I will also laugh at your calamity;
    mmmI will mock when your dread comes,
    27 When your dread comes like a storm
    mmmAnd your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
    mmmWhen distress and anguish come upon you.
    28 “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
    mmmThey will seek me diligently but they will not find me,
    29 Because they hated knowledge
    mmmAnd did not choose the fear of the Lord.
    30 “They would not accept my counsel,
    mmmThey spurned all my reproof.
    31 “So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way
    mmmAnd be satiated with their own devices.
    32 “For the waywardness of the naive will kill them,
    mmmAnd the complacency of fools will destroy them.
    mmmmmmmm
  8. President Biden seems to be ruled by the dictates of his advisors rather than his own moral compass. Clearly, this is an opinion, but having watched the President over much of his career in politics, both before and since becoming president, his positions have radically shifted over the years and have consistently moved away from Judeo-Christian values. He does not seem to have any moral center beyond the rhetoric of the leftist advisors on the most radical fringe of the democratic party. Compare Proverbs 16:2-3, 10-15. As John Piper wrote: “The abandonment of righteousness will weaken the seat of government and the stability and security of the nation.”

  9. President Biden and his administration do too much for people (in order to buy their votes) that they should do for themselves.  See Proverbs 26:10-16. When a government discourages personal responsibility in its citizens (and in its immigrant invaders), it is not helpful to the citizens as individuals or the nation’s greater good. As I have written before, “Government should promote individual responsibility and productivity, and be careful to not enact laws and policies that discourage industry and duty.” (Picking a President or Any Other Elected Official, Crossbooks, 2012, p. 134).

Tomorrow: How I hope you will go to the polls in November.
