December 6: Liturgies for Life

Pennsylvania Grand Canyon in Winter

I will attempt to post at midnight the day before for the day intended. If you are a subscriber (free) it will arrive in your email and be ready for use when you wake up. Let’s start, live and finish each day pointing our hearts to Jesus.

A Morning Call to Worship

Read Psalm 36 and 66

You haven’t had your coffee yet,
but this day is still a day that the Lord has made,

and that means a shout for joy to God is appropriate
even as you go to your car for work
or as you nest and work at home.
Tell God and your own heart “How awesome are your deeds, O God”
and let His praises raise Your eyes to Him through out your day.

Psalm 36     Your Heart Has a Voice (that you cannot trust)

An Afternoon Prayer of Confession

Read Psalm 6 and 96

Lord, I am commanded in your word “Sing a new song to the Lord”
but I’m not sure there was anything new in my singing today.
I was preoccupied with all that I had to do today
and rarely turned my heart to You.
This is common Lord.
It’s a symptom of the corruption still residing in my heart.
I live like my time is my own and I don’t look for Your leading
in the moments of my day.
I live as if my time is to serve my self and my agenda
rather than as a servant of the Living God.
Forgive me and change me.
Make me holier tomorrow than I was today,
and draw my heart to You in unceasing praise.

Psalm 96   Turn My Heart into a Symphony of Praise

An Evening Benediction on the Day

Read Psalm 126

The Lord has done great things for us
and we are glad.
The day is gone, the night has come
tomorrow there will be new battles to fight,
new problems to solve.
Lay your head down and sleep in peace.
The Lord will do great things tomorrow too.
