The Place of “Dying” in Discipleship

Thursday is for Discipleship

Six years before he was imprisoned by the Nazi’s, Dietrich Bonhoeffer penned these words:

“When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.”

It was passages like Matthew 10:37-39; Mark 8:34-38; Luke 14:25-27 that forced Bonhoeffer to the conclusion that would later cost him his life.

Questions:

  • What part does “dying” have in your discipleship process?
  • How do we build “dying” into our own lives?
  • How do we pass on this lifestyle (ironic word) to others?
