Church Planting Movements Changing the World

Wednesday is for Prayer (additions)

… People transforming, justice seeking …

Thought you might be encouraged by some things I have been reading. Here’s a couple of quotes.

[All quotes from David Garrison, How Church Planting Movements: How God is Redeeming a Lost World]

  • “A church planting movement transforms Cambodia’s killing fields into fields of new life with more than 60,000 new Christians and hundreds of new churches planted over the past ten years.
  • “Despite government attempts to eliminate Christianity, a church planting movement in one Southeast Asian country adds more than 50,000 new believers in five years.”
  • In China, church planting movements “are baptizing 30,000 people a day.” (YOU MIGHT WANT TO READ THAT AGAIN!)

God is moving all around the world. More people are coming to a saving knowledge of Christ. Pray that God might use the new work to which He is calling me to start a similar movement here in the Chicagoland area that will spread to the entire country. Wouldn’t it be great to see a real, nothing-can-stop-it, Christ-exalting, people-transforming, justice-seeking, community-changing, love-saturated church planting movement in the United States?

Pray for it.

  1. That is where my prayers have been focused for the past fifteen years, ever since I recognized that the only thing that would stop our slide down the slippery slope to oblivion is revival. And revivals don’t begin with great orators or powerful leaders — they begin under haystacks and in humble living rooms, as God’s people confess their contribution to the decline and repent, allowing the Holy Spirit to work His work in their hearts. Renewed, revitalized, revived! they share with neighbors and the movement begins.
I am glad to see that even if the lamp goes out in this part of the world, there will be someone, somewhere, who will come here as missionaries.
