Spurgeon Wisdom

“Serve Yahweh with gladness;
Come before Him with joyful singing.”

“The angels of God serve Him with songs, not with groans; a murmur or a sigh would be a mutiny in their ranks. . . .Service coupled with cheerfulness is heart-service, and therefore true. . . . Cheerfulness is the support of our strength; in the joy of the Lord we are strong.”

Then he gives an illustration:

“It [cheerfulness] acts as the remover of difficulties. It is to our service what oil is to the wheels of a railway carriage. WIthout oil the axle soon grows hot, and accidents occur; and if there be no a holy cheerfulness to oil our wheels, our spirits will be clogged with weariness.”

Cheerfulness is a great healer to our weariness. Resurrection people ought to be hunters of cheerfulness. We, above all people, should be like California gold-rush miners, hunting with eagerness for reasons to be joyful in the greatness of God and His provisions. This is especially true in the sorrows of life. Let us be a people whose eyes are always open to the wonders God is doing around us.

Have a great cheer-filled day where ever you are.
