Read Psalm 63
I have a songwriters heart and no talent for a musical instrument. Despite a grade school with three years of lessons, and a college class that I almost failed, the piano eluded me and both experiences were so traumatic, I never picked up another instrument. My Dad played the piano by ear. My youngest daughter has composed some wonderful pieces on the piano. Check out the gift she gave me for Christmas one year when I asked for “a sound file that would be reflective and meditative to accompany the poetry project here on the blog.” See the following link: [audio mp3=”https://chosenrebel.me/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/aubre-piano13.mp3″][/audio]
So periodically, I get a tune in my head when I am reading the psalms and can’t shake it. But the one in my head fits the following lyrics inspired by the verbs in Psalm 63.
My soul thirsts
My flesh yearns for You.
My soul is satisfied
My soul, it clings to You.You are all I need
You are all I need
Teach my soul to see
That You are all I need, all I need.[1]
[1] I’ve got the worm of a chorus in my head but not the skill of a musician to take it to the next level and turn these two stanzas into a legitimate worship chorus. But maybe, when I am gone, someone will find these words useful and expand on them in their own meditation on Psalm 63. Almost every word comes from the New American Standard Bible (1995), verses 1, 5, 7-8.
