Read Psalm 15 and 45
Calling the Heart to Worship
May you rise with a full heart.
May you remember all that you have gained in Christ.
Redemption, forgiveness, mercy, destiny, eternal life,
the presence and indwelling of the Holy Spirit,
having been adopted into the family of God,
made a joint heir with Christ,
possessor of all the promises of God
and relationship with the greatest being in the universe,
and all of it yours by the grace of Christ—
may you remember and rejoice as you begin this day
with Him at your side. Rejoice, and again I say,
Rejoice.
Read Psalm 75
Calling the Heart to Repentance
Forgive us O God for having not valued as we should
all the great things You have done for us.
We have boasted in our own power and forgotten Yours.
We have spoken with a haughty voice and forgotten Your voice of power.
We have judged others forgetting that we too will stand before Your holiness.
Forgive all of these and so much more
for we are frail and weak and lazy
and would be nothing without You.
Forgive us and change us and use us
somehow, for Your greater glory
And our neighbors greater joy.
cf. Psalm 75:4-10
Read Psalm 105 and 135
Calling the Heart to Rest
(a benediction on the day)
1 “O give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
Speak of all His wonders.
3 Glory in His holy name;
Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.
4 Seek the Lord and His strength;
Seek His face continually.
5 Remember His wonders which He has done,
His marvels and the judgments uttered by His mouth,”
May these words be upon both your lips and your heart
as you lay your head to rest this night.
cf. Psalm 105 and 135
