Wednesday Prayers for Fall

Calling the Heart to Worship

Read Psalm 13 and 43

Because of the resurrection, we rise with joy today.
Because of all His promises, we have confidence today.
So, may the Lord Himself enlighten your eyes.
May He help you to see His salvation,
so that, like David, you will sing your song to the Lord,
knowing that Your trust in Him
will be rewarded with His presence and bounty.

cf. Psalm 13:3-6

Read Psalm 73

Calling the Heart to Repentance

Lord, I am so forgetful.
I envy the lost.
Their confidence and freedom to do as they please
is sometimes attractive, even seductive.
My sinful heart is pulled toward them
in ways destructive to my soul and shameful
concerning Your will.
I am always forgetting that Your promises to me—
the glories we will have in Your presence
make all their joys pale in comparison.

Help me to remember You, Your Word, and Your will
that I might be a better ambassador now,
that others might know You forever.

cf. Psalm 73:1-9, 16-17

Read Psalm 103 and 143

Calling the Heart to Rest (a benediction on the day)

The Lord has established His throne in the heavens,
And His sovereignty rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, you His angels,
Mighty in strength, who perform His word,
Obeying the voice of His word!
21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts,
You who serve Him, doing His will.
22 Bless the Lord, all you works of His,
     In all places of His dominion;
Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Rest.
Rest, because all this is true!

cf. Psalm 103 (NASB95)
