November Prayers (8)
Calling the Heart to Worship
Read Psalm 8
His majesty is on display this morning
in all that we see this day.
The splendor of the heavens, the sun that rules this day
as well as the moon and stars that will rule this night.
And He has made you and EVERYONE you will see today
“just a little lower” than Himself!
Is this not a stunning, mind-bending, astonishing truth?
All of us have a dignity higher than Everest!
So rise, and sing a song of joy
For the Lord, our God is majestic
and His Name is above all the earth.
Read Psalm 8 again
Read Psalm 38 and 98
Calling the Heart to Repentance
1 Lord, rebuke me not in Your wrath,
And chasten me not in Your burning anger.
2 For Your arrows have sunk deep into me,
And Your hand has pressed down on me.
3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation;
There is no health in my bones because of my sin.
4 For my iniquities are gone over my head;
As a heavy burden they weigh too much for me.
Lord, like David, my heart is sometimes burdened
by the weight and guilt of my sin.
Thank You for Your forgiveness.
Make my life more reflective of One who appreciates
and values the wonder of Your mercy and love.
cf. Psalm 38:1-4 (NASB95)
Read Psalm 68 and 128
Calling the Heart to Rest (a benediction on the day)
May the God of blessings, bless you this night.
May He calm your spirit as you entrust the work of your day
to the care of Him who is Your protector.
And may your sleep provide you the rest you need,
to walk in faithfulness to Him in the new day.
cf. Psalm 128:1-4
