November Prayers (2)

Calling the Heart to Worship

Read Psalm 2

The One who judges the nations,
sits on His throne this morning
and calls us to serve the him.

So let us rejoice and serve him with a glad heart
for nothing can thwart his will,
and he who trusts him will never be put to shame.

Read Psalm 32 and 62

Calling the Heart to Repentance

Lord, I don’t want to be like a horse or a mule
who doesn’t understand what You want.
I want you to instruct me in Your way.

At least that is what I say to myself and others.

I confess Lord, that I haven’t always pursued Your will.
Worse Lord, I haven’t done those things that I know are Your will.
I don’t want a bridle to force me to do Your will.
I want a heart that willingly and eagerly pursues
knowing and doing Your will.

I am always so busy.
Make me slow down and wait in silence for Your voice.
I am too often in a hurry to get on with my agenda.
Help me to recognize that this is an indication
that I trust myself more than You.
Forgive me and help me to trust You first.

cf. Psalm 32:8-9; 62:1-2, 5

Read Psalm 92 and 122

Calling the Heart to Rest (a benediction on the day)

Yahweh makes the righteous to flourish.
They follow Him are always in His house,
and flourish in the worship of the King.

So, as you lay your head down to rest
remind your heart that the King is for you.
Remember that and let peace overwhelm your spirit.

cf. Psalm 92:12-15
