December 3: Liturgies for Life

A new liturgy for the 3rd day of the month

A Morning Call to Worship

Psalm 3 and 33

Your God is the glory and the lifter of your head,
so lift your head to His smile
and march into your day with the LORD at your side.
Give Him your attention and your praise.
Give Him your thanksgiving with a song in your heart,
for He is your protector and guide,
and He will not abandon you.
Worship Him because His steadfast love
will follow you through out the day.

An Afternoon Prayer of Confession

Psalm 63 and 93  (see also 1 John 1:9)

My soul has thirsted for You O God,
but not like it should.
My soul has not been satisfied in You O God,
like I know that it should.
And I have attached myself to things,
rather than to You, the source of all true joys.
Only You are robed in majesty
but I have acted like others had power over me.
I confess my failures and frauds,
my corruptions, lusts, and greeds.
I acknowledge Your righteous judgment,
Forgive my sins and cleanse me of unrighteousness
And lead me into life eternal,
with You.

An Evening Benediction on the Day

Psalm 123

The day’s sand has passed through the hour glass;
And all day He has been enthroned in the heavens.

May you rest in peace knowing He will still be there
when the morning sun and new mercies greet you.
And may He give you new joys for tomorrows sorrows.
