“Lord, Make Me Holy . . . but Not Today.”

The title of this post is actually a prayer that St. Augustine prayed BEFORE he was a Christian. My fear is that it is a prayer that many “Christians” pray all the time from underneath a veneer of professed belief in Christ. But if we have truly understood the value of the Kingdom of God, if we have truly believed in what the gospel is, and what it offers to us, we will not pray such a silly and happiness-killing prayer. That was my point in this message I had the opportunity to teach at my home church two Sunday’s ago. I hope it encourages you.
