Fourteen Years Ago

Fourteen years ago, I started an experiment. I had left pastoral ministry two years before to raise my own support and travel and speak for the Great Lakes District of the Evangelical Free Church, helping train and equip churches and pastors to expand their evangelistic footprint through church planting and more effective proclamation. It was also a time to connect with former students who were planting churches and seeking to impact communities across the world with the proclamation of the gospel. I was looking for a way to encourage them and care for them, and hopefully, even inspire them to live passionately for and like Christ. The result was this blog, “ChosenRebel.me (Pastoral Care for Church Planters and Missional Leaders).

The folks at WordPress reminded today that it has been 14 years since the blog started. My first thought was, “That’s a long time.” My second thought was, “That’s a lot of words to have to give an account of before the Lord of Glory on judgment day.” I confess I didn’t think too long about that second thought. It makes me uncomfortable. My hope is that it has been of some help to my readers. Over the years, well over 184,000 different readers have visited the blog from almost every country on the globe.

Life changes. And I am going through a time of reassessing how I spend my time. There may be some changes in the months ahead. Writers write. They can’t help themselves. But that doesn’t mean that everything they write is of equal value.

  1. Do I continue? Do I change focus? Do I narrow my focus?
  2. Do I turn to writing more books? Do I offer more articles for publication or do I write for my own pleasure?
  3. What would You have me do Lord?

So, for those of you who have been a part of this journey, thank you for your attention.

Would you pray for me?

  • Pray that God would give me wisdom in determining next steps.
  • And pray that I would hear clearly and even more, that I would obey quickly whatever the Master says.
