I supported the President in his public speech after the Sandy Hook elementary school murders. I wrote about how the President was eloquent and reflective and served the country well in his remarks as he sought to provide comfort and hope to the nation. I still think the same way. Our President, for a moment, was everyone’s President. He was Presidential and powerful.
At the same time, I wrote later that there was a certain dissonance for me between the appropriate words the President spoke and the knowledge that out of 100 Senators when he was a Senator, he was the only one who voted for partial-birth abortion. How could he be so eloquent after Sandy Hook and so “missing-in-action” on the issue of partial-birth abortion? How could he be the most pro-abortion president in history and fail to see that while his words after Sandy Hook were appropriate for the moment, they ring hollow upon further reflection in the context of his own personal history?
Now a group has looked at this speech and made the point that the speech he gave actually lays out a blue-print for how pro-life advocates can move the conversation forward about ending abortion. Here’s the video and it is a must see. See it, but do more. Pray today for the ending of abortion in America and around the world.
What do you think? And while you are thinking, pray that President Obama would change his stripes and use his eloquence for pro-life causes.

I assume Obama believes that unborn life – at least in the early stages – is not yet real human life. Based on this premise, he’s not anti-life. I agree with you that he is wrong in assuming this, but it explains why he does not perceive a contradiction and his actions are not hypocritical.
I think this position is widespread. Only a minute minority among people in favor of abortion are deliberately anti-life; many if not most simply – and perhaps conveniently – misjudge the time of beginning of human life.
