Does a Lack of Joy for the Kingdom Mean I Am Not a Part of the Kingdom?

Monday Discussion

Question:
If the gospel of the King and his Kingdom is not a joy of inestimable value to me, am I a disciple of Christ?
(cf. Mt. 13:44-46)

  1. Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

It seems to me that if any one of these three conditions is missing, we should be very concerned about the state of our walk as disciples of Jesus Christ. How can I be an effective witness without joy? Or peace? Or righteousness?

Can I call myself a disciple? Many do but they do not fill the condition set in Acts 1:8 of being a witness, a Spirit filled witness. A resident of the Kingdom, a disciple of Jesus Christ, is a witness to the righteousness, peace and joy that is the aroma of the Kingdom; we exude it, we are it; it is something that we cannot not be.

    1. Another great response my brother. You win my unofficial award for “most biblical response” to every question. Your mind and heart are saturated with the word. Thanks for setting the bar high.
