Tuesday is for Preaching

Preaching the gospel always requires guts. But one of the coward-producing effects of western materialism is that it hollows out the heart of those who are called to teach the gospel. Don’t let your heart dwell in the thorns (Mark 4:18-19).
Preach with boldness and compassion. Preach as a dying man to dying men. Proclaim the coming of the Kingdom of God; call men and women to repent of living for lesser things; call them on the right and the left, the black and the white, the rich and the poor, the haves and the have-nots, those who have none and those who have some Christian heritage–call them all to believe the gospel.
Do it with humility. Do it with consistency. Do it better than you did yesterday and better still the day after. Do it till Jesus comes or calls you home. The world needs the gospel.

One of the first lessons seminary students from the underground Church in China learn is how to jump out a second story window without breaking their legs so when the police come, they can escape. I take so much for granted being able to speak freely of my Jesus!!

Sobering isn’t it, what our brothers ans sisters around the world are willing to endure for the cross and yet we, who have been blessed so much, live not for the cross but for our security, convenience and comfort.
